"Don’t let the man get you down"
I thought it highly appropriate to begin with a quote from school of rock a favourite film of mine. It seems to be a common use of phrase in our class these days. Im in 3rd year now in University College of Cork studying Government. As part of the course we have to complete a 14 week work placement. Due to the economic climate it is proving difficult to find organisations who will hire us, or pay us. I don’t mind so much about the monetary benefits however it is worrying to think that I might end up in some dead end public service job as a clerical officer. Anyways worries over I was fortunately shortlisted for a placement in the Massacheutus State Legislature. It will be challenging as I am up against one more person but to be honest I can say that I am very optimistic about the position. It is strange to think that I am half way through my degree its even stranger to think that in one year I will be deciding what to do with my life. Exciting as it may sound it is very daunting this whole career path thing. I don’t feel that I am entirely sure what I want to do with my life but I know that this placement will open a lot f doors for me and narrow down my choices. The application process is not too strenuous basically I have to submit a written piece illustrating why I am suited to the job and why I want it so much. Boston is an amazing city so I have been told and I can not wait to see how everything turns out. Chow ! Off to Wagamamas for some delicious grub
